If you name your album and band after an aircraft, make sure you put the right one on the freakin' cover. L-1011. NOT A DAMN 727! Sheesh.

I can't tell the difference.
This is what google tells me an L-1011 looks like and it seems to match that profile.
727 for comparison

The Black Keys' El Camino album drives me insane. They could have at least used a Dodge Rampage.

Big difference. 727 - All engines on the tail section:|
L1011 - 2 Engines on the wings, one in the tail (Similar to a KC-10 Tanker):
Also the L1011 is a widebody aircraft (3 rows of seats) compared to the 727's 2 rows.

I've seen and heard both of these described as "stealth fighters." Drives me insane

No engines on the wings and forward nose landing gear = 727

So what you're telling me is that the 727 is rear wheel drive, while the L-1011 is all wheel drive?

The latter, if described in YF-12 configuration, they'd be right about - but only to an extent and mostly by accident.
(minor silhouette tweaks like the fins to shed radar - only one step above zero fucks given by designer.)
(Idiot who thinks all black swoopy planes are stealth - genuinely zero fucks)

Ok, but you can't tell which is which from the black profile

I can.
L-1011 is just plain fatter (taller fuselage).

So, which one is on the cover?
![]() 11/13/2013 at 13:24 |

727 :)
(the 727, 737, and 707 all share the same Boeing nose)
The L-1011 was made by Lockheed.

When I see you guys talking about planes I know how people feel when I talk about cars.

Like corvairsomeday2 said, fuselage size as well as the tail. L1011 has less sweep in the tail (angle of the actual vertical stabilizer).

Hey!!! El Ten Eleven!! They are awesome! Saw them last year live and were great! I feel like they should get a pass on the airplane, they are from California after all. What are you, like, the plane police mannnn?

You can also tell from the lack of engine pods on the wings, near the main landing gears.

Haha, back in my teens I was an avid planespotter. I remember being able to tell the airline and country the plane was registered in, just from the rego number.

Ahh yeah, I forgot about that one too!

I love their music, but it's like calling a picture of a Corvette a Mustang, similar, but still WAY different.

It's easy to tell the difference:
L1011 has a fat rounded nose, 727 has the classic Boeing nose
727 has a more steeply raked tail, which is thicker at the top because it's a T tail.
727 has tiny low bypass engines, the TriStar has much fatter looking High bypass turbofans, the centre engine on the L1011 looks much fatter and blends in better to the body/tail, the 727 sticks up on a web which can be clearly seen in the silhouette. You'd be able to see the L1011's wing mounted engines hanging down in front of the undercarriage.
L1011 is a widebody, so it looks much fatter than the 727.
